Thanks for the link. My long take...

But the LHN is not solely owned by ESPN... it's in the first paragraph. I wouldn't discount UT's Board or Regents and the Texas State Legislature's pull in decision-making here. And then there's IMG who is a subsidiary of giant CLC who has some say in the decision-making of over 200 universities, including UT. I don't think it's as black and white as ESPN owns the LHN and probably not a completely true statement. But ESPN does look to operate it.

I'm nowhere near a lawyer (nor would I want to be), but have to read and been involved with contracts enough to be dangerous. So here are a few things I would pay attention to down the road (in terms of the LHN):

1 - Term until June 30, 2031
12C - Indemnification and the Texas State Legislature
14D - Performance and Obligation

The Big XII GORs could potentially expire (not be renewed) before the end of the LHN contract (2031). Where does that leave UT if 9 of their conference mates bolt to other conferences in 2025/26? Would that indemnify UT (in the minds of the Texas Legislature) and allow them and "out" of the LHN Contract and to pursue another conference? Or will the LHN be too much of a cash cow for UT after a potential Big XII break-up? If the LHN is a cash cow, the State may back off and let UT do their thing (who knows). If that is the case, UT would be tied at the hip with ESPN making the B1G and PAC very difficult maneuvers; and ACC or SEC easier maneuvers. But if the LHN becomes a dog and the Texas Board of Regents and State Legislature see a pot of gold at the end of a PACN or B1GN rainbow (which would include UT), do they forego pride and make the move to one of those 2 conferences?

Then there is Longhorn ego. Will pride make them hold onto the LHN forever? That could happen too. That said, would UT keep the LHN after 2031 and will ESPN still be involved? Or do they start pursuing a Contract partnering with FSN after 2031?

So I hear you and see where you are going with this, but it's not that back and white. And Texas will do what Texas does and ESPN, Disney and IMG may be tied to the tracks when the Big old State of Texas train with the Board or Regents as it conductor comes barreling down that track.
